The Clog

This started as a blog about living abroad for 7 months, but the reality of getting a job has me talking about other topics while in between countries. (Above photo taken on return trip from Mexico, 2008. Looks like castles in the sky.)

communal living

last night we went to a pizza party at our friend lucianna~s house. well, lucianna, togi, ana and others live there. it~s like a commune where everyone helps each otehr out. an argentinian couple who live there, make drums out of these gourds. the file them so they are very smooth, pound out rebar for the securing of the skin, and finish them so they can sell them.

another couple makes jewelry, and some work at local bars, restaurants and surf shops. i will be the one who teaches english.

it~s really great to witness people working together and with their own talents to be able to live the easy life they do. people don~t have a need to consume here. we live by supporting each other. don~t worry, i~m not turning into a hippie. i just appreciate how each person contributes something and life runs pretty smoothly, from what i can see.
