today we went to the beach. it was a bit cold but we were the only people within visibility for most of the time. we stayed for about 3 hrs and christine took a photo of my back which has been raw meat for all the bugs in rosa.
the road we took back was arduous. we tried the way people told us was the quick way. we immediately discovered we wanted the easy way, not the quick way. covered in dust and sweat, we return home after about an hr of walking an rest our bones as the sun sets. i make feijoada, brazil~s national dish of black beans and meat, then fix myself a shot of cachaca (white sugar cane rum) with a chaser of goiaba juice (local friut).
i love how everyone knows everyone here. we went to buy bathing suits today and ended up chatting with a couple older women for a half hour. everyone just sits around, talking at a different pace i~ve come to know as ^tomorrow^. that~s when things get done. and that~s all there is to it. welcome to rosa.
