The Clog

This started as a blog about living abroad for 7 months, but the reality of getting a job has me talking about other topics while in between countries. (Above photo taken on return trip from Mexico, 2008. Looks like castles in the sky.)

May 5th (a little out of order)

we went to praia do rosa today. we ate at a restaurant and had a beet, carrot, tomato and heart of palm salad and fries. delicious! the ketchup here is weird. it looks like jelly and doesn~t have much of a flavor. they like mayonaise on everything. the beach was really clean and the sand, fine. so you could squeeze it and it kept its form. we were befriended by a stray dog we named mango, after being followed by another last night who we call mange. oh, i can~t leave out our adventures from last night!

we decided to go on a walk and ended up at our local market about 15 mns. away. we met a couple of locals who invited us to a party where there would be fish. we accpted, went to a beach house and met some of the friendliest people on earth! we ate fresh bbq-ed fish stuffed with shrimp and tomato and garlic! we were there to celebrate the first day of the 72 hour party for someone~s bday. tonight~s party, which we were also invited to, will have many many more fish NS vour 50 people so we~ll meet more locals.

the bday boy ended up playing the guitar while everyone listened then sang in portuguese. we danced to bob marley and there was an awesome torsoise shell hanging from the ceiling. surreal! we met some really nice girls and they made me cry with their kindness. they told me they would always be my friend and if i needed a place to eat, sleep, drink or cry, i could come over any time. it~s amazing. 5 hrs after arriving here, i meet ten of the coolest locals and now have a family and a home here in praia do rosa. . . a paradise for creativity which i have chased every day of my life.
